Toronto Neighbourhood Comparisons: 100 Honest Head-to-Heads

Last updated 10 September 2026. Written by Jatin Dua, Broker of Record at RE/MAX Quantum Realty, 799 The Queensway, Etobicoke · 100 comparisons · 20 neighbourhoods

What this is

One hundred head-to-head comparisons of Toronto neighbourhoods, covering 20 neighbourhoods with ten comparisons each. Every pairing is here once. Each piece answers the same question — which is better, and better for whom — using TRREB sold data, the 2021 Census, Toronto Police open data and City planning files, and it names real downsides on both sides rather than selling you one of them.

How to read these

A few things are worth knowing before you use any of the numbers in this series.

  • Community-level prices are Q1 2026. TRREB publishes neighbourhood-level data quarterly, and Q1 2026 was still the newest release when these were written. District-level figures are from the August 2026 Market Watch. Both change every quarter.
  • Sample sizes travel with the averages. Where a quarterly average rests on eight or eleven sales, the piece says so in the same sentence. A neighbourhood average built on a handful of transactions tells you what happened to sell, not what things are worth.
  • The MLS map is not the City map. Several of these places have no MLS community code of their own — Leslieville, Yorkville, Humber Bay Shores and Liberty Village among them. Any “average price” you see quoted for those is somebody’s hand-drawn polygon, not an official statistic. Each piece explains where its numbers actually come from.
  • School ratings are Fraser Institute, data year 2023/24, and both the TDSB and OPSBA publicly dispute the methodology. Catchments are address-specific and are never asserted here — check any address on the TDSB’s own tool before you rely on it.
What you will not find hereNo price per square foot, no typical lot sizes, no minute-by-minute transit times, no school catchment claims and no opening date for the Ontario Line. Not because they are uninteresting, but because there is no source for them I would put my name to. Where a number exists, it is cited. Where it does not, the piece says so.

If you are comparing two places right now

Send me the pair. I will tell you which one I would buy in for your situation and, more usefully, which one I would not — and what I would check before you make an offer in either.

Deciding between two neighbourhoods?

I have walked buyers through most of these streets. Tell me the two you are weighing and what you actually need from a home, and I will give you a straight read — including the parts that do not show up in a listing.

No pressure, no drip campaign. If the answer is “neither, wait six months”, I will tell you that.
