By Jatin Dua · Broker of Record, RE/MAX Quantum Realty · Updated 30 October 2026 · 8 min read — Five Oakville events with confirmed dates from November 2026 to February 2027, with locations, times and costs, plus what each one shows you about the neighbourhood.

Short answer

My top five Oakville events for the 2026–2027 season are the Oakville Santa Claus Parade (November 14, 2026, downtown), At Home in Bronte for the Holidays (November 21, Bronte Market Square), the Kerr Village Tree Lighting and Holiday Market (November 28, Westwood Park), Holiday Lights by the Lake (December 4 to February 15, Coronation Park) and the World of Threads Festival (to January 17, 2027, free). The order is my judgement, not an official ranking.

How I chose these five

I picked Oakville events with confirmed dates for the 2026–2027 season on the Town of Oakville’s own pages or Visit Oakville’s official event listings. If this season’s date was not published, the event did not make the list.

I also wanted the list to cover three of Oakville’s historic village main streets. Downtown Oakville, Bronte and Kerr Village each have their own main street and their own holiday tradition, and seeing all three is one of the best ways to compare them before you buy.

  • Confirmed date: a 2026 or 2027 date on an official page.
  • Free or low cost: all five are free to attend or have no posted admission.
  • Neighbourhood value: each puts you on a street or in a park that matters to buyers.

The Town’s own events calendar is thin over the winter, and I could not find confirmed summer 2027 dates on official pages, so this list leans toward November through February.

The upside is that four of the five fall within about three weeks, from mid-November to early December. If you are relocating to Oakville in the new year, that window is the best time to visit and get a feel for the town before spring listings arrive.

1. Oakville Santa Claus Parade

What it offers

The Town of Oakville’s Santa Claus Parade takes place on Saturday, November 14, 2026. This year’s theme is “North Pole Sweets and Treats,” and the Town says the parade goes ahead rain or shine.

It is a long-running tradition. The Town’s 2025 release marked the 77th anniversary and traced the first parade to 1948, when it was organised by Bill Hughes of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

How it worked last year

The 2026 start time had not been posted when I checked, so plan around last year’s pattern and confirm closer to the date. In 2025 the parade started at 9 a.m. in downtown Oakville.

Last year the Town also ran a free Oakville Transit Santa Shuttle from Oakville GO to the Trafalgar Park Community Centre parking lot, every 10 minutes from 8 a.m. If the Town repeats it, that is the easiest way in.

Practical notes

  • Where: downtown Oakville.
  • Cost: free to watch.
  • Dress: it runs rain or shine in mid-November, so dress for the weather.
  • Taking part: participant applications closed November 1, 2026.

Who it suits

The parade suits families with young children, and anyone who wants to see downtown Oakville at its busiest. Get there early for a spot on the curb, and if you drive, plan to park well away from the route and walk in.

2. At Home in Bronte for the Holidays

What it offers

Bronte’s holiday kick-off runs Saturday, November 21, 2026, 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. It is put on by the businesses of the Bronte BIA in Bronte Market Square.

It is a smaller, neighbourhood-scale event than the downtown parade. That is exactly why I like it for buyers: it shows you how Bronte’s village core works when the community turns out.

Practical notes

  • Where: Bronte Market Square, 2445 Lakeshore Road W.
  • When: 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.; tree lighting at 5:30 p.m.
  • Cost: no admission is listed.
  • Updates: the Bronte BIA’s website posts what is happening in the village.

What it means for buyers and renters

If you are choosing between Bronte and downtown, go to this event and the downtown parade a week apart and compare the crowds, the parking and the walk from the side streets.

Arrive before the 5:30 p.m. lighting and spend some time on the streets around the square. You will learn more about day-to-day life in Bronte from an hour there than from a dozen listing photos.

3. Kerr Village Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Market

What it offers

Kerr Village holds its tree lighting and holiday market on Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Westwood Park. The listing notes Kerr Village has held a Christmas tree lighting for more than 30 years.

In 2025 the market ran on a similar afternoon schedule, with the tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. The 2026 lighting time had not been posted when I checked, and the organiser says more information is coming.

Practical notes

  • Where: Westwood Park, 173 Kerr Street.
  • When: 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.
  • Updates: Kerr Village posts details on its events page.

What it means for buyers and renters

Kerr Village has its own business association and its own character, separate from downtown. This event is a relaxed way to see Kerr Street and its side streets on a busy Saturday afternoon.

Because it runs from early afternoon, it suits families with young children who would rather be home before dark. Pair it with a coffee or lunch on Kerr Street and you have a full scouting visit.

4. Holiday Lights by the Lake

What it offers

Holiday Lights by the Lake runs from December 4, 2026 to February 15, 2027 at Coronation Park. It is the longest-running item on this list, so it works for any free evening over the winter.

Visit Oakville’s 2025 holiday guide called it one of Oakville’s most beloved holiday traditions and said last season’s display had more than 130,000 lights.

Practical notes

  • Where: Coronation Park, 1426 Lakeshore Road West.
  • When: December 4, 2026 to February 15, 2027.
  • Cost and hours: not posted yet; the listing marks further details as to be confirmed.

What it means for buyers and renters

Coronation Park is on Lakeshore Road West. If you are looking at homes nearby, a walk through the lights on a weeknight shows you how much traffic the display brings to the surrounding streets.

Because it runs into mid-February, it is also a good excuse to see a lakefront park in deep winter. Buyers often only see these neighbourhoods in spring and summer, and a February visit gives you the honest picture.

5. World of Threads Festival

What it offers

The World of Threads Festival runs September 23, 2026 to January 17, 2027 at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre. It showcases contemporary fibre and textile art from around the world, with group shows, solo shows and installations from 192 artists.

It is free, it is indoors, and it runs through the darkest weeks of the year, which makes it a good rainy-day or post-holiday outing.

Practical notes

  • Where: Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, 2302 Bridge Rd.
  • When: now until January 17, 2027.
  • Cost: free.
  • More: the festival’s own website has the full artist list and exhibition details.

What it means for buyers and renters

Visiting the festival is a natural way to see the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, a facility you might use regularly if you buy nearby. Walk the building, look at the program boards and ask what runs there for kids and adults.

Also this season

Hockey fans should note the U17 World Challenge, hosted November 1 to 7, 2026 at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, 3070 Neyagawa Blvd. The arena seats 1,500 and tickets are sold through Ticketmaster.

The tournament brings top under-17 players from Canada and around the world and is part of Hockey Canada’s development pathway toward its U18 and National Junior Team programs. A 50/50 draw supports the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club.

What this means if you’re buying or selling in Oakville

Oakville is a town of distinct pockets, and these events let you sample three of them in three weekends: downtown on November 14, Bronte on November 21 and Kerr Village on November 28. Go to all three before you narrow your search, and take notes on what you liked about each.

If you are buying near a parade route or a park that hosts a big display, check how event days affect parking and access. Ask the seller or landlord what happens on their street on parade morning and during the winter lights season.

Transit matters here too. Last year’s Santa Shuttle ran from Oakville GO, and if you commute to Toronto, walking or cycling distance to the GO station is worth checking for any home you consider.

For sellers, a listing near these villages benefits from describing the walk to the main street and the waterfront. I can help you time open houses around event days so buyers see the neighbourhood at its best without the closures getting in the way.
