My top five Mississauga events for the 2026–2027 season are the Mississauga Santa Claus Parade (November 21, 2026, Celebration Square), Streetsville’s Christmas in the Village (November 20–21), the Festival of Trees at the Small Arms Inspection Building (December 4–13), the Beneva Mississauga Marathon (April 25, 2027) and Carassauga Festival of Cultures (May 29–30, 2027). The order is my judgement, not an official ranking.
How I chose these five
I picked events that have confirmed dates on an official page for the season between November 2026 and summer 2027. If the organiser has not posted this season’s date, the event is not on the list, no matter how popular it was last year.
I also wanted spread across the city. These five take you from downtown Mississauga to Streetsville, the Lakeview waterfront and community centres across several neighbourhoods, which is useful if you are using events as an excuse to scout areas before you buy.
Two of the five fall on the same weekend in November, and the last two land in spring 2027. I could not find confirmed summer 2027 dates on the official pages I checked, so I left those festivals out rather than guess.
- Confirmed date: a 2026 or 2027 date published by the City or the event organiser.
- Free or low cost: most of these cost nothing or work on pay-what-you-can.
- Neighbourhood value: each one shows you how a part of Mississauga actually feels on a busy day.
1. Mississauga Santa Claus Parade
What it offers
The City’s Santa Claus Parade, presented by TD, takes place on Saturday, November 21, 2026 at Celebration Square. The City’s event listing runs from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the City’s August 2026 news release puts the parade itself at 6 p.m. in downtown Mississauga.
This year’s theme is “Sauga’s Home for the Holidays.” The City says the parade coincides with the opening of its largest outdoor ice rink and the lighting of the Christmas tree at Celebration Square, so it is effectively the start of the downtown winter season.
Practical notes
- Where: Celebration Square, 300 City Centre Dr.
- Cost: free, all ages, listed as accessible.
- Route: the City says road closures will be in effect and route details are still to come, so check the event page the week before.
- Volunteering: volunteer roles are open to people 14 and older, and the news release says volunteer applications close November 3, 2026.
What it means for buyers and renters
The parade is a good test of what living near Square One is like on a big event night. If you are looking at a condo in the City Centre, walk the blocks around Celebration Square that evening and notice the crowds, the closures and how easy it is to get home.
2. Christmas in the Village, Streetsville
What it offers
Streetsville’s Christmas in the Village runs Friday, November 20, 2026, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 21, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The tree lighting ceremony is on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
The organiser lists an artisan market with more than 30 vendors, maple taffy, horse and carriage rides, photos with Santa, a ride on the Pearson Express train, carnival rides and live stage entertainment on Saturday afternoon.
Practical notes
- Where: throughout historic Streetsville; the organiser’s page does not name a single venue.
- Saturday schedule: rides and kids’ activities 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; carriage rides and Santa photos 12:00 to 7:00 p.m.
- Cost: the family activities are described as free; prices for individual rides and photos are not posted.
- Give back: the Hope for the Holidays drive asks guests to bring a new, unwrapped toy.
What it means for buyers and renters
Streetsville is the part of Mississauga that still feels like a small town, and this weekend shows it at its best. If you are weighing Streetsville against a newer subdivision, spend Saturday here and see whether a walkable main street matters to you as much as you think it does.
It also pairs neatly with the downtown parade, since both run on November 21. A family could do the Streetsville market at midday and Celebration Square in the evening.
3. Mississauga Festival of Trees
What it offers
The sixth annual Festival of Trees runs December 4 to 13, 2026 at the Small Arms Inspection Building in Lakeview. It combines commissioned tree art installations, an artisan and culinary market with more than 80 vendors, hands-on workshops and live music.
Admission is pay-what-you-can, and the organiser says proceeds support emerging artists, heritage and environmental initiatives.
Practical notes
- Where: Small Arms Inspection Building, 1352 Lakeshore Rd E.
- Markets and performances: December 4 to 6 and 11 to 13.
- Market hours: Fridays (Dec. 4 and 11) 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays (Dec. 5, 6, 12 and 13) 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Evening entertainment: Dec. 4 and 11, 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.
- Tree viewing times: not yet posted, so check before you go on a weekday.
What it means for buyers and renters
Lakeview is one of the neighbourhoods buyers ask me about most along the eastern waterfront, and this is an easy way to spend an afternoon there in winter. Visit on a market Saturday, then drive or walk the side streets south of Lakeshore Road East to get a feel for the housing stock.
4. Beneva Mississauga Marathon
What it offers
The Mississauga Marathon race weekend is on Sunday, April 25, 2027. It is the one event on this list that crosses the whole city, from the downtown core to the lake.
Distances include the full marathon (42.2K), half marathon (21.1K), 10K, 5K, a 10K Crew Challenge for teams of two or more, and Tims Trots, a 750 m walk or run for children 10 and under.
Practical notes
- Marathon: starts at Celebration Square, 300 City Centre Drive, and finishes at Lakefront Promenade Park beside the Mississauga Sailing Club.
- Half marathon and Crew Challenge: start and finish at Celebration Square.
- 10K, 5K and Tims Trots: start on Burnhamthorpe Rd. between Duke of York and Living Arts Dr. and finish at Celebration Square.
- Spectators: expect road closures along the course on race morning; plan any showings or moves around it.
What it means for buyers and renters
If you live on or near the course, race day affects how you get in and out of your street. Ask the seller or landlord how they handled it in past years. For runners, the downtown-to-lakefront route is a reminder of how connected the City Centre and the Port Credit and Lakeview shoreline really are.
5. Carassauga Festival of Cultures
What it offers
Carassauga has posted its next festival dates as May 29 and 30, 2027. It is a multicultural festival of food, performances and cultural displays, spread across pavilions hosted at sites around the city.
The festival site currently features more than 20 cultures, from Armenia and the Caribbean to Poland, the Philippines and Vietnam. The 2027 pavilion line-up and locations had not been posted when I checked.
Practical notes
- Last year’s pattern: in 2026 the festival ran Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- 2026 host sites included Burnhamthorpe Community Centre, Mississauga Valley Community Centre, Carmen Corbasson Community Centre, Frank McKechnie Community Centre and the Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre on Rose Cherry Place.
- Getting around: in 2026 the festival advised visitors to park free once at any pavilion site and use shuttle buses between sites; passport holders and children 12 and under rode free.
- 2027 details: wait for the festival’s own admission and locations pages to update before you plan your route.
What it means for buyers and renters
Carassauga is the best single weekend to see how many communities call Mississauga home. Because pavilions sit in community centres in different neighbourhoods, it also doubles as a tour of the facilities you would be using if you lived nearby.
The five at a glance
| Event | Date | Where | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mississauga Santa Claus Parade | Sat. Nov. 21, 2026 | Celebration Square, City Centre | Free | Families, downtown condo shoppers |

| Festival of Trees | Dec. 4 to 13, 2026 | Small Arms Inspection Building, Lakeview | Pay-what-you-can | Gift shopping, local art |
| Beneva Mississauga Marathon | Sun. Apr. 25, 2027 | Celebration Square to Lakefront Promenade Park | Race registration | Runners, spectators |

What this means if you’re buying or selling in Mississauga
Use these events as low-pressure scouting trips. The parade and the marathon show you the City Centre at its busiest, Christmas in the Village shows you Streetsville’s main street, and the Festival of Trees puts you on the Lakeshore Road East corridor in Lakeview.
If you are buying near a major event site, check two things. First, how road closures affect your driveway or underground garage on event days. Second, whether the noise and crowds are a few nights a year or a regular pattern, which you can judge from the City’s events calendar.
For sellers, big event weekends are a mixed bag. A listing near Celebration Square or in Streetsville can benefit from extra foot traffic, but closures can make showings harder. Ask me to check the event calendar before we set open house dates.
Whatever you choose, confirm event details on the official pages linked below before you go. Dates rarely change, but routes, times and locations often get finalised only a week or two ahead.
