Living here
Renters, Airbnb and elevators at Stonecastle Condos
Do mostly owners or renters live here?
Too few deals in the last 24 months to read the owner and renter mix reliably. Ask me and I will pull the building’s history.
Can you Airbnb a unit at Stonecastle Condos?
No active City registrations here right now. In Toronto you can only host in your principal residence, a whole unit for at most 180 nights a year, with a $390 yearly registration and 6% accommodation tax. You cannot buy here to run it as a full-time Airbnb. Check the condo’s rules in the status certificate before you count on it.
How reliable are the elevators?
Ontario requires residential buildings to report any elevator outage lasting 48 hours or more, and this address has none on record. Elevators still need modernizing every 25 to 30 years, so check the reserve fund study for the date.

Before you buy here
Five things the listing will not tell you about Stonecastle Condos
- Reserve fund health. Ask for the latest reserve fund study and its date. A thin fund in an older building usually means fee jumps or a special assessment.
- Special assessments and big repairs. Check the status certificate for planned levies and for balcony, garage, window or elevator work.
- Insurance deductible. Find the corporation’s deductible for water damage. If it is higher than your own policy covers, raise your coverage before closing.
- Fee trend. Compare this year’s budget with last year’s. Rises of 2–5% a year are typical; bigger jumps need an explanation.
- Lawsuits and rules. Look for legal claims against the corporation, and for rules on pets, short-term rentals and leasing.
Send me the status certificate and I will flag anything that matters before your conditional period runs out.

Stonecastle Condos is the kind of building most buyers drive past on Keele Street without noticing. It is a small low-rise near Wilson Avenue, a few minutes from the 401, and it appeals to people who want an affordable, practical condo without a tower’s elevator lines. The catch is that public information on it is thin, so you do more of the homework yourself. I’m Jatin Dua, RE/MAX Quantum Realty.
Quick answer
Stonecastle Condos is a low-rise condominium at 2615 Keele St in the Maple Leaf neighbourhood of North York, Toronto, near Keele St and Wilson Ave and just south of Highway 401. condos.ca lists it as built in 2011 and names Maple Ridge Community Management as property manager. MLS records carry condominium corporation number 990. Suites recorded on MLS include one-bedroom-plus-den layouts of roughly 600 to 700 sq ft, with owned parking and visitor parking. The developer is not listed in the sources I could find.
Stonecastle Condos at a glance
A low-rise on a busy arterial
Stonecastle is a small, low-rise building on the Keele Street strip between Wilson Avenue and the 401. A recent listing described it as a well maintained low-rise condominium, which matches its appeal: it is a quiet, manageable building rather than a destination.
Low-rise matters day to day. You use the stairs or a short elevator ride, there are far fewer neighbours sharing the hallways, and move-ins do not need a booked freight elevator for a whole morning. The trade-off is that a small owner base splits every major repair among fewer people, so the reserve fund deserves a close look. Ask how many suites the building has; I could not find a reliable count.
Keele itself is a busy road with a steady stream of buses and trucks heading to the 401. Suites facing Keele will hear it. If you are noise-sensitive, ask which way a suite faces and visit at rush hour.
Layouts and finishes
The suites I could find on MLS are compact, practical plans. One main-level one-bedroom-plus-den recorded at roughly 600 to 700 square feet, with open-concept living and dining, an open kitchen with granite counters, ensuite laundry and a bedroom with an attached den.
Main-level suites are worth singling out. A ground-floor condo apartment suits buyers who want to avoid stairs and elevators altogether, including older buyers and anyone with mobility needs. Ask whether the suite you are viewing has a private entrance or is reached through the common hallway.
MLS records show forced-air heating in the suites. That usually means a suite-level furnace or fan coil and air conditioner, so ask for the age and service history of the unit in the suite you are buying.
The den is the part of the plan that earns its keep. In a suite of this size it works as a home office or a nursery, and it is what separates a one-plus-den from a plain one-bedroom at resale. Measure it before you rely on it; some dens fit a desk and little else.

Parking, management and the 2011 question
Parking is one of the better points here. Suite records show owned parking, and parking is listed among the items covered by the maintenance fee. The building also has visitor parking, which matters in a neighbourhood where many visitors arrive by car.
condos.ca names Maple Ridge Community Management as the property manager. That is the only source I found for it, so confirm the current manager on the status certificate.
On age, condos.ca gives 2011 as the build year, but I could not confirm that from a second source, and corporation number 990 in the MLS records looks low for a 2011 registration. Treat the age as unconfirmed and check the registration date and declaration on the status certificate. The answer changes what you should expect from the windows, roof and mechanical systems.
Keele and Wilson day to day
The building sits in the Maple Leaf neighbourhood, near Keele Street and Wilson Avenue. Most buyers know it as the Keele and 401 area, a mostly residential pocket of postwar houses with commercial strips along the main roads.
The practical draws are access and errands. The 401 on-ramp at Keele is very close, Yorkdale is a short drive, Humber River Hospital is at Keele and Wilson, and a Cataldi supermarket is within walking distance. Keele Street buses stop right outside; the data panel shows transit options and walk times.
Listing agents also pitch the building to people heading to York University and the Downsview area, both reachable up Keele. For a student’s parents buying instead of renting, or a staff member who drives, that is a real point in its favour.
The area is starting to change. Taller condo projects have been proposed along Keele near the 401, including a 24-storey tower and the 2699 Keele development to the north. Over time that brings more neighbours and retail, along with more construction and traffic on Keele.
How to think about price here
There are no active listings at Stonecastle as I write this, and a small building like this trades only occasionally. That makes the building’s own sales history thin, so use the data panel’s figures as a guide and lean on comparable low-rise and mid-rise sales around Keele, Wilson and Jane for context.
Against new condos on this stretch of Keele, an older low-rise suite usually costs less per square foot, and parking included in the fee narrows the monthly-cost gap further. You give up new-build amenities and finishes in exchange for a lower price and a quieter building.
Ask for the fee per square foot and what it covers, then compare it to the newer towers nearby on an all-in basis, adding back parking, heat and water wherever a building charges them separately. If you want that comparison run against recent sales, book a call.

Amenities at Stonecastle Condos
Stonecastle is not an amenity building, and condos.ca lists none. That keeps the fee focused on running the building, while the gym, pool and shopping you might want are a short drive away at Yorkdale and along Wilson Avenue.
Jatin’s honest take on Stonecastle Condos
Who this building suits
First-time buyers and investors who want an affordable entry into a Toronto condo with parking, commuters who use the 401 every day, and healthcare workers at Humber River Hospital who want a short commute. Main-level suites suit buyers who want to avoid stairs and elevators.
What I’d want you to check
Confirm the basics first: the registration date and corporation designation, the current property manager and what the fee covers, because the public record here is thin and partly contradictory. Then read the reserve fund study and recent budgets, which matter more in a small building. Check the furnace and air conditioner in the suite, ask which way it faces given the traffic on Keele, and read the pet and leasing rules in the declaration yourself, since a listing record mentions pet restrictions but not the details.
The value question
The value case is a practical one: a modest price, parking included and fast highway access, in a quiet low-rise. That is a sensible combination for an end user. Where I would be cautious is resale depth. With few sales to compare against, pricing is harder to pin down, so buy at a number you can justify from area comparables, not from hope. Plan to hold for several years, too, so short-term swings in this thin market matter less.
