By Jatin Dua · Broker of Record, RE/MAX Quantum Realty · Updated 30 October 2026 · 8 min read — Five coffee shops in Mimico and Humber Bay Shores, what each does best, addresses and hours from their own sites, and what cafe access means for buyers.

Short answer

My top five coffee shops in Mimico and Humber Bay Shores are Birds and Beans Cafe (organic Bird Friendly coffee, on Lake Shore and Marine Parade), SanRemo Bakery (family Italian bakery since 1969 on Royal York Road), Casa Boho (coffee, juice and acai bowls at 62 Marine Parade), BB Cafe Humber Bay (Persian-inspired cakes and pastries) and Second Cup Marine Parade (open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily). The order is my judgement, not an official ranking.

How I chose these five

I looked for cafes that people in Mimico and Humber Bay Shores can actually walk to, that have a website or official listing confirming they are open, and that each do something different. A good neighbourhood coffee list should cover the early commute, the long laptop session, the weekend treat and the bakery run.

I also avoided repeating my earlier lists. Fair Grounds, The Big Guy’s Little Coffee Shop and Café Mimico are in my Top 5 Coffee Shops in Etobicoke, and The Queensway strip is covered in my Queensway coffee guide.

  • Walkable from Mimico village streets or the Marine Parade Drive condo cluster.
  • Confirmed current on the business’s own website or official locator.
  • Different from each other: specialty coffee, Italian bakery, juice bar, Persian bakery-cafe and a late-hours chain cafe.

A few well-known names are missing because I could not confirm them on a working first-party website before publishing. Cafes in this area open and close often, so I would rather leave one out than send you to a locked door.

The order is my judgement, not an official ranking.

1. Birds and Beans Cafe

What it offers

Birds and Beans is the local specialty coffee pick, and it now covers both halves of this area. The cafe’s own site says all its coffee is organic and Bird Friendly certified, roasted by Birds and Beans Coffee Roasters, and prepared by trained baristas to specialty coffee standards.

Treats are made with sustainably chosen ingredients, including the flour, and the cafe takes online orders through its website.

Two locations

The original cafe is on Lake Shore Boulevard West in Mimico. BlogTO reported in May 2025 that the cafe, open since 2004, had added a second location in Humber Bay Shores the month before. The cafe’s Visit Us page lists both.

Practical notes

  • Mimico: 2413 Lake Shore Blvd W. Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekends 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Humber Bay Shores: 160 Marine Parade Dr. Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekends 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Phone: 647-368-7616, per the cafe’s website.

If you live in a Marine Parade condo and work from home, the 7 a.m. weekday opening is the detail that matters.

Having one cafe in both neighbourhoods also makes it a good meeting point. If a friend lives on the other side of the Mimico Creek mouth, you can pick whichever location is closer, and the coffee is the same at both.

2. SanRemo Bakery

What it offers

SanRemo is the Mimico institution. Its website describes a family-owned Italian bakery run by the Bozzo family since 1969, serving the GTA for more than 50 years.

It is more than a coffee stop. Walk-in customers can get the daily hot table, salads, pizza and sandwiches, and the bakery sells small traditional cakes for walk-in purchase. The website says its donuts usually sell out in store before 2 p.m., and recommends pre-ordering.

The coffee window

The site mentions a Coffee Window that stays open on Mondays, when the store itself is closed. For a quick espresso on the way to Mimico GO or the Royal York bus, that is a useful thing to know.

SanRemo is the kind of place that anchors a neighbourhood. When buyers ask me what Mimico feels like day to day, a Saturday morning line at a long-running family bakery is a better answer than any statistic.

Practical notes

  • Address: 374 Royal York Rd., Toronto, M8Y 2R3.
  • Hours listed on the site: Tuesday to Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Coffee Window only. The site dates these hours to May 2021, so call 416-255-2808 to confirm before a special trip.
  • Delivery: the site says the bakery does not deliver. Large take-out or catering orders should be pre-ordered by phone.

3. Casa Boho Juice Bar and Coffee Shop

What it offers

Casa Boho is the Humber Bay Shores pick for people who want coffee and something lighter than a pastry. Its website lists specialty coffee, including lattes, cortados, cold brew and ceremonial matcha lattes, alongside smoothies, cold-pressed juices, organic acai bowls and made-to-order paninis.

The cafe describes itself as a short walk from Lake Ontario, which fits: it sits in the Marine Parade Drive retail strip, a few minutes from the waterfront trail.

Long hours

Casa Boho keeps the longest evening hours of the independents on this list. That makes it workable for a post-run smoothie after work, not only a morning stop.

For people who use the waterfront trail daily, a place that serves both a cortado and a cold-pressed juice covers the before and after of a run or ride without a detour.

Practical notes

  • Address: 62 Marine Parade Dr, Units 1 and 2, Etobicoke, M8V 0A3.
  • Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., per its website.
  • Phone: 416-251-8880.
  • Also offers: catering for meetings and events.

4. BB Cafe, Humber Bay

What it offers

BB Cafe is the dessert-and-coffee pick. It is a Persian-inspired bakery cafe with several GTA locations, and its cafe locator lists a Humber Bay location on Marine Parade Drive.

BB Cafe’s website lists classic cakes made daily for pickup, custom cakes with three days’ notice, cupcakes, assorted pastry boxes, cream puffs and Persian cookies. If you need a cake for a weekend gathering in a condo party room, this is the closest option to the towers.

Why it is on the list

Most Humber Bay Shores cafes compete on coffee. BB Cafe stands out for its baking, and it gives the neighbourhood something Mimico’s Italian bakeries do not.

It also says something about the neighbourhood. Humber Bay Shores has grown into a place where families host birthdays, holidays and visiting relatives, and a bakery that handles celebration cakes at the foot of the towers is part of that shift.

Practical notes

  • Address: 78 Marine Parade Drive, per BB Cafe’s locator.
  • Hours: not listed on the locator page, so check before you go.
  • Contact: the brand lists [email protected] and 416-505-5855.

5. Second Cup, Marine Parade

What it offers

Second Cup is the reliable late-hours option. It is a chain, but in a condo neighbourhood the cafe that is open at 8:30 p.m. on a weeknight earns a place on the list.

Second Cup’s location page lists Wi-Fi, catering, its rewards program, online ordering, and delivery through Uber Eats and SkipTheDishes.

Who it suits

If you work from home and want a change of scene in the evening, or you are meeting someone after work, the hours here are the longest of the five.

I would not make a special trip for it, but as the cafe closest to many Marine Parade lobbies with a 9 p.m. close, it fills a gap the independents leave.

Practical notes

  • Address: 98 Marine Parade Drive, Etobicoke, M8V 0H2.
  • Hours: open daily, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., per Second Cup’s location page.
  • Seating: the location page does not describe seating or a patio, so check in person.

What this means if you’re buying or selling in Mimico and Humber Bay Shores

This list shows how the two halves of the area differ. Mimico’s cafes sit on older main streets like Lake Shore Boulevard West and Royal York Road, mixed in with houses, low-rise buildings and newer mid-rises. Humber Bay Shores clusters its cafes at the base of the condo towers on Marine Parade Drive.

For condo buyers in Humber Bay Shores, ground-floor retail is part of what you are paying for. When you compare buildings, walk the block and see which storefronts are open, which are vacant, and what the hours look like. A building at the Marine Parade end puts four of these five within a few minutes on foot.

Buyers looking at Mimico freehold homes or smaller condo buildings get a more traditional village feel, with SanRemo and Birds and Beans as daily anchors. Keep in mind that TRREB reports Humber Bay Shores sales under the Mimico community, so if you are reading market data, the two areas are blended together.

If you are selling, mention the walk to the nearest cafe in the listing with a specific time and route. Buyers in this area do care. If you want to know what your unit or house could sell for, start with my home valuation page.

What’s your condo
worth today?

Three quick steps. Condos don’t price like houses — your floor, your view, and whether you own parking move the number more than anything else. This weighs all of them.

That happens constantly in condos — one has the parking, the right exposure, or a board that keeps the reserve fund healthy. A model can’t see your status certificate. I can.

How this works — your estimate comes from a model built on recent Toronto & GTA condo sale data, weighting area, size, layout, floor, exposure, view, parking, locker, age and condition. It is an automated estimate for information only — not an appraisal and not a Comparative Market Analysis. Condo values also depend on the building’s reserve fund, maintenance fees, recent special assessments and status certificate, none of which a model can read.
