By Jatin Dua · Broker of Record, RE/MAX Quantum Realty · Updated 30 October 2026 · 8 min read — Five GTA neighbourhoods around GO train stations, with service and parking details from GO Transit and Metrolinx and TRREB September 2026 benchmark prices.

Short answer

My five picks for GTA commuters are Mimico (Mimico GO, Lakeshore West all-day service), Weston (Weston GO plus UP Express to Pearson and Union), Long Branch (Long Branch GO, TTC and MiWay connections), downtown Oakville (Oakville GO, busiest Lakeshore West station, over 4,000 parking spaces) and Scarborough’s Eglinton East area (Eglinton GO, Lakeshore East, now fully accessible). The order is my judgement, not an official ranking.

How I chose these five

I picked five neighbourhoods built around GO train stations where the station, its service and its parking are documented on GO Transit and Metrolinx pages, and where I can pair it with TRREB’s district-level price data. I favoured stations with all-day train service or a confirmed recent upgrade, and I spread the picks across the west end, the east end and Halton.

  • Service: from Metrolinx line and station project pages. I only describe service that Metrolinx states is running today; planned frequency increases are labelled as plans.
  • Station details: address, staffed hours, parking and local transit connections from each station’s GO Transit page.
  • Prices: TRREB’s MLS® Home Price Index composite benchmark for September 2026, from the September 2026 Market Watch. These are district or municipal averages, not values for the streets nearest the station.

I left out stations whose line or service I could not confirm on an official page, and I do not quote travel times or train frequencies, because I could not read a current GO schedule for each station. The order is my judgement of overall commuter appeal, not an official ranking. Always time the trip from your own door, since walking distance to the platform matters as much as the train.

1. Mimico (Mimico GO)

What it offers commuters

Mimico GO is on the Lakeshore West line, which Metrolinx says delivers two-way, all-day service seven days a week between Union Station and Aldershot GO. That all-day service is the main reason Mimico appeals to downtown commuters who do not want to depend on rush-hour trains.

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program aims to give the Lakeshore West line capacity for trains every 15 minutes or better. Mimico GO’s own upgrade is in procurement and design, with a new south tunnel entrance at Manchester St. and Blue Goose St. and an accessible east connection planned. No completion date is given.

Practical notes

The station is at 315 Royal York Rd. Its GO Transit page lists staffed hours of 05:50 to 20:40 on weekdays and 09:20 to 16:40 on weekends and holidays, a TTC connection, bike racks and 31 Bike Share docks, and 221 free parking spaces in the main lot.

What it means for buyers

Mimico is in TRREB district W06, which also covers New Toronto, Long Branch and Alderwood. W06’s composite benchmark was $832,100 in September 2026, up 1.24% year over year, the strongest result of any fully reported GTA area that month. Condo apartments made up 40 of W06’s 82 sales, at a median of $557,500.

2. Weston (Weston GO and UP Express)

What it offers commuters

Weston is the only pick with UP Express as well as GO trains. Metrolinx says Weston GO is served by both GO Transit and UP Express, with direct connections to Pearson International Airport and Union Station.

The station sits on the Kitchener line. Metrolinx reports that a station rebuild that began in 2019 is complete, adding a new GO platform with heated shelters and a snow-melt system, a new track through the station and new stairs and elevators to the pedestrian tunnels. It also says service changes at Weston will not take effect until new rail signalling is in place, so the extra service the rebuild supports has not arrived yet.

Practical notes

The GO Transit page lists the address as 1865 Weston Road, staffed hours of 05:30 to 20:30 on weekdays and 09:00 to 17:00 on weekends and holidays, and TTC and UP Express connections. Parking is listed at 131 and 127 spaces in two lots, plus a Zip Car space, and reserved and carpool parking are available.

What it means for buyers

Weston is in TRREB district W04, along with Mount Dennis, Brookhaven-Amesbury, Maple Leaf and Yorkdale-Glen Park. W04’s composite benchmark was $782,300 in September 2026, down 4.50% year over year, and its median sale price was $616,250 from 54 sales. For buyers who travel to the airport often, the UP Express link is a practical advantage few neighbourhoods match.

3. Long Branch (Long Branch GO)

What it offers commuters

Long Branch GO is also on the Lakeshore West line, so it shares Mimico’s two-way, all-day service. Its GO Transit page lists both TTC and MiWay connections, which is useful for anyone who works in Mississauga as well as downtown.

Metrolinx is upgrading the station to make it fully accessible. The plan includes new west and east entrance buildings, new tunnels with elevators and stairs, a passenger pick-up and drop-off area, a secure bike storage room and rehabilitated platforms with heated shelters. Metrolinx’s renderings are marked as subject to change, and no completion date is given.

Practical notes

The station is at 20 Brow Drive. Its GO Transit page lists staffed hours of 05:20 to 20:40 on weekdays and 08:20 to 20:40 on weekends and holidays, and only 9 parking spaces in the main lot. In practice that makes Long Branch a walk-in or transit-connection station rather than a drive-and-park one.

What it means for buyers

Long Branch is in the same TRREB district as Mimico, W06, so the same benchmark applies: $832,100 in September 2026, up 1.24% year over year. W06’s detached benchmark was $1,155,500 (+1.41%). With so little station parking, buyers who want to use the train should focus on streets within walking or cycling distance of Brow Drive.

4. Downtown Oakville (Oakville GO)

What it offers commuters

Metrolinx calls Oakville GO the busiest station on the Lakeshore West line. It has the same two-way, all-day Lakeshore West service as Mimico and Long Branch, plus local and intercity connections: the GO Transit page lists Oakville Transit and VIA Rail service.

Renovation work is underway to improve safety, accessibility and capacity, including a new accessible pedestrian bridge with four elevators and four staircases, six additional bus platforms and a new secured bike shelter. Metrolinx says Oakville GO could see trains as frequently as every 15 minutes or better in the busiest travel hours as GO Expansion proceeds; that is a possibility, not a published schedule.

Practical notes

The station is at 214 Cross Ave. Its GO Transit page lists staffed hours of 05:20 to 20:40 on weekdays and 06:20 to 20:40 on weekends and holidays, and parking of 2,712 spaces in the main lot, 1,398 in the garage and 291 in the south lot. Expect some construction disruption while the renovation continues.

What it means for buyers

Oakville’s composite benchmark was $1,128,800 in September 2026, down 3.03% year over year, from 162 sales across the whole town. Oakville condo apartments sold at a median of $537,500 that month, a much lower entry point than the town’s detached benchmark of $1,573,000.

5. Scarborough’s Eglinton East area (Eglinton GO)

What it offers commuters

Eglinton GO is on the Lakeshore East line, near Eglinton Avenue East and McCowan Road. Metrolinx describes Lakeshore East as the second busiest GO rail line and says GO Expansion will bring more frequent midday, evening and weekend service, without giving a date.

The station was built in 1978 and is now fully accessible after a two-phase Metrolinx project. That work added east and west pedestrian tunnels, elevators to both platforms, rehabilitated platforms with tactile edges, platform canopies and digital route screens, and an accessible entrance plaza from Eglinton Avenue.

Practical notes

The GO Transit page lists the address as 2995 Eglinton Avenue, staffed hours of 05:50 to 20:40 on weekdays and 10:20 to 17:40 on weekends and holidays, a TTC connection and 837 parking spaces in the main lot, plus carpool parking. For drivers, that is a lot more parking than the west-end stations on this list.

What it means for buyers

TRREB’s E08 district, which covers Scarborough Village, Cliffcrest, Guildwood and Eglinton East, had a composite benchmark of $782,900 in September 2026, down 8.10% year over year. Neighbouring E09 (Bendale, Woburn, Morningside) was $697,500, down 7.70%. TRREB district boundaries do not follow station catchment areas, so check which district your street falls in before relying on either figure.

What this means if you’re buying or selling near a GO station

A GO station only helps if its schedule fits your day. Lakeshore West stations have two-way, all-day service today, which suits hybrid workers and people with off-peak hours. Weston’s added service is waiting on signalling work, and Lakeshore East’s increases are described as future plans, so buy on today’s timetable rather than on promised frequency.

Parking is the other big variable. Oakville and Eglinton have hundreds or thousands of spaces; Long Branch has nine. If you will drive to the station, check parking availability at the times you would arrive.

If you will walk, compare actual walking routes, because rail corridors can make a nearby station surprisingly far on foot.

On the selling side, being near a station with all-day service is a feature worth highlighting with specific numbers, like staffed hours and connections, rather than vague claims.

Buyers will also ask about train noise and construction, so be ready to say what upgrade work Metrolinx has announced for your station. I am not predicting how stations will affect future prices. If you want to compare districts, see my market data hub or the W06 market page.

Frequently asked questions

Which GO line has all-day service from Toronto?

Metrolinx says the Lakeshore West line delivers two-way, all-day service seven days a week between Union Station and Aldershot GO, with hourly service to West Harbour GO. Mimico, Long Branch and Oakville GO are all on Lakeshore West. Metrolinx’s GO Expansion aims for 15-minute service or better between Toronto and Burlington.

Will GO trains run every 15 minutes?

That is Metrolinx’s plan, not today’s schedule. Its Lakeshore West page describes 15-minute service or better between Toronto and Burlington as part of GO Expansion, and its Oakville GO page says the station could see trains that often in the busiest hours. Neither page gives a start date.

Which GO station connects to Pearson Airport?

Weston GO. Metrolinx says the station is served by both GO Transit and UP Express, with direct connections to Pearson International Airport and Union Station. Its GO Transit page lists the address as 1865 Weston Road, with TTC and UP Express connections.

Which GO stations have the most parking?

Of the five here, Oakville GO has the most, with 2,712 spaces in the main lot, 1,398 in the garage and 291 in the south lot, according to its GO Transit page. Eglinton GO lists 837 spaces. Long Branch GO lists only 9, so it is best reached on foot, by bike or by local transit.

Do homes near GO stations cost more?

TRREB does not publish prices by distance to a station, only by district or municipality. In September 2026, W06 (Mimico and Long Branch) had a composite benchmark of $832,100, up 1.24% year over year, while E08 near Eglinton GO was $782,900, down 8.10%. Compare nearby sales on your street.
