Every Bank on The Queensway Rates Badly. Here’s Why.

Quick answer

No bank branch on The Queensway rates above 3.2 out of five, and the six branches on the corridor sit between 2.2 and 3.2. That is not a comment on this corridor — it is what retail banking reviews look like generally, because people review a bank when something goes wrong. Ratings retrieved 30 August 2026.

I set out to write a “best banks on The Queensway” list and could not, because there is no
such thing. Every single bank branch on this corridor rates between 2.2 and 3.2 out of
five.
Not one reaches 3.5. So here is the honest article instead.

The actual ratings

# Branch Rating Reviews Address
1 TD Branch and ATM 3.2 108 125 The Queensway
2 TD Branch and ATM 2.9 88 1315 The Queensway
3 RBC Royal Bank 2.7 210 1065 The Queensway
4 CIBC Branch with ATM 2.6 235 1582 The Queensway
5 BMO Bank of Montreal 2.3 84 1075 The Queensway
6 Scotiabank 2.2 131 1100 The Queensway

For comparison, on the same corridor the dentists average about 4.8, the groomers about 4.8,
and the restaurants about 4.6. This is not a bad-neighbourhood effect. It is a bank effect.

Why bank branches rate like this everywhere

Three things, and none of them are really about these branches:

  • Nobody reviews a good bank visit. You go in, you do the thing, you leave.
People review banks when something went wrong — a wait, a fee, a hold on a deposit, a closed
counter. The sample is self-selecting toward complaint.
  • Branch staff do not control what people are angry about. Most one-star bank
reviews are about policy, hold times or fees set nationally. The teller gets the star rating.
  • Branches are being cut everywhere. Shorter hours and fewer counters produce
exactly the waiting-room complaints these reviews are full of.

So do not read 2.2 as “this branch is bad.” Read it as “this is what retail banking reviews
look like in 2026.”

What actually matters if you are buying on this corridor

Here is the part with money attached. Your mortgage does not have to come from the
branch nearest your condo
, and for most buyers it should not.

  • Branch advisors sell one lender’s products. A mortgage broker shops several.
On a pre-construction purchase with a long closing, that difference matters more than usual.
  • Pre-construction closings need a lender who understands them. Interim
occupancy, development charge adjustments and appraisal gaps at final closing are not standard
resale mechanics. Plenty of branch staff have never handled one.
  • Get the rate hold in writing with the expiry date. On a 2028 occupancy, a
120-day hold taken today is worth nothing at closing.

If you want a branch anyway, TD at 125 The Queensway is the highest rated of a weak field at
3.2, and it sits at the Park Lawn end near Sobeys.

The one thing I would actually check

Whether the branch you plan to use still has the hours you think it has. Several branches on
this corridor have reduced hours, and a lot of the negative reviews above are specifically about
turning up to a closed or short-staffed counter. Confirm before you drive there.
