Kingsway South, Edenbridge-Humber Valley, Islington and Princess-Rosethorn contain 12 TDSB schools, 6 TCDSB schools, one French Catholic and one French public elementary, and two private schools. Which one an address is assigned to is decided only by the board’s address tool. Three things changed for 2026–27: the Humber Valley Village attendance area now goes to Richview CI instead of Etobicoke CI, Bishop Allen Academy has moved to 2 St. Andrews Blvd during its rebuild, and Holy Angels is in a replacement-school project. Early French Immersion sites are Rosethorn and Islington JMS; applications for 2027 open 2 November 2026.
Every family that calls me about The Kingsway, Islington, Humber Valley or Princess-Rosethorn asks the same question in the first five minutes, and it is almost never the right one. “Which is the best school?” has no useful answer. “Which school will this address be assigned to, what does the board say about it, and what has it published?” has a precise one, and it changes street by street. This page is the second question, answered for every publicly funded school in the four City of Toronto neighbourhoods — Kingsway South (15), Edenbridge-Humber Valley (9), Islington (158) and Princess-Rosethorn (10) — plus the private schools with their own published details, with the boundary change that takes effect this month and the two relocations that affect families right now.
How a school is actually assigned to a house
The Toronto District School Board’s Policy P013 puts it in one sentence: each student “will have the right to attend the regular program in a designated school … based on the primary address of the student’s parents or … legal guardian.” The designated school is found with the TDSB’s Find Your School by address tool, and that tool — not a listing, not a map on a brokerage site, and not this page — is the authority. Families may apply to one regular-program school outside their area under Out-of-Area Admissions, but a school marked “Closed” “may not admit any students from Out-of-Area,” siblings and feeder-school students have priority, applications open each January for the following September, and the status list for 2027–28 “will be updated in November 2026” (TDSB Out-of-Area Admissions page; P013 revised 19 February 2025).
French programs do not follow the neighbourhood school. Early French Immersion “begins in Junior Kindergarten” and placement is “based on the child’s principal residential home address of record prior to the application deadline”; the 2027–28 application window opens 2 November 2026 at 9:00 a.m. and closes 27 November 2026 at 4:00 p.m., with a late waitlist to 31 May 2027. Middle French Immersion enters at Grade 4 with applications from 4 January to 29 January. The old Extended French streams at Grades 4 and 7 were phased out from September 2021. In this area the 2026–27 Early French Immersion sites are Rosethorn Junior School and Islington Junior Middle School, with Richview Collegiate as the secondary destination; the nearest Middle French Immersion site on the map is Bloorlea Middle School at 4050 Bloor Street West (TDSB program maps, October 2025).
Gifted placement, for the families who ask: the TDSB requires “an individual psychological assessment at or above the 98th percentile on the General Ability Index” on a WISC-V, testing from Grade 3 at age 8, and full-time gifted classes begin in Grade 4; “families receive one offer only” (TDSB Special Education Plan, Section J). John G Althouse Middle School describes itself as “a dual track middle school (Regular and Gifted Programs).”
The Toronto Catholic District School Board uses its own elementary school locator and online registration; its admission and placement policies (S.A.01 and S.A.02) are listed on the board’s policy page. I was not able to open the policy documents themselves, so I will not paraphrase them — call the TCDSB Admissions and Placement Department at 416-397-6900 for the rules that apply to you.
Three changes families are living through this year
1. Humber Valley Village families now go to Richview, not Etobicoke CI. The TDSB’s final decision of 22 October 2025, effective 1 September 2026, directs “the split Humber Valley Village Junior Middle School attendance area between Etobicoke Collegiate Institute and Richview Collegiate Institute … entirely to Richview CI (Regular program).” Current students and their younger siblings are exempt. The reason, from the board’s FAQ: Etobicoke CI “is still projected to be over 100% utilized in the long run,” the site “cannot accommodate any portable classrooms,” and out-of-area and visa admissions to Etobicoke CI are closed. If you are buying in Humber Valley for Etobicoke CI, you are buying for Richview (TDSB Final Decision Letter, 19 November 2025).
2. Bishop Allen Academy has moved for the rebuild. The TCDSB states that the school “will relocate to the former Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School (2 St. Andrews Boulevard) beginning September 2026” because of “enrolment growth and 24 portables on site,” while a new three-storey school is built at 721 Royal York Road. The board’s construction page lists anticipated occupancy as “to be determined” (TCDSB relocation information page; relocation update letter of 9 October 2025).
3. Holy Angels is in a replacement-school project. Ministry funding for “a new 600 pupil school with five child care rooms” was approved on 13 May 2018; the school relocated to the former Buttonwood Hill site from September 2021 and the Ministry’s 2024–25 file still lists it at 65 Jutland Road. The board’s page gave an anticipated occupancy of 3 September 2024 for the new building at 100 Allanhurst Drive and lists later status updates I could not open; confirm the current site with the school before relying on it (TCDSB Holy Angels construction updates).
Every school, with what has been published
Two published measures appear below, and both need a sentence of explanation. EQAO figures are the percentage of students at or above the provincial standard in the 2024–25 assessments, as released in the Ministry of Education’s school information file (extract date 17 July 2026); the Ministry notes that percentages may be randomly rounded and results are suppressed for very small groups. The Fraser Institute rating is that think tank’s own composite score out of 10 for 2023–24, from its January 2026 elementary and November 2025 secondary report cards, given with the school’s rank out of 3,047 elementary or 747 secondary schools. Fraser does not rate junior schools that end at Grade 5 or middle schools that start at Grade 6, because its method needs both Grade 3 and Grade 6 results. Neither measure says anything about whether a school is right for a particular child, and this page makes no claim about the people who live near any of them.

Karen Kain School of the Arts (TDSB, 60 Berl Ave, Grades 6–8) is just south of this area in Stonegate-Queensway and admits by application only through the TDSB Central Admissions site; the 2027–28 window is 9 to 27 November 2026, with an open house on 10 November. Its Grade 6 results were 89 / 89 / 50. A school called Kingsmill Secondary appears on some listing sites; it is not in the Ministry’s 2024–25 file and I found no TDSB page for it, so treat that name as an error.

The homes inside each catchment
Boundaries are the board’s to draw and they are not the same as the City’s neighbourhood lines, so the paragraphs below describe the housing in each City neighbourhood and name the schools whose published addresses fall in it. Confirm the assignment for any specific address with the board tool before you offer.
Kingsway South (15)
Lambton-Kingsway, Sunnylea, Our Lady of Sorrows and Etobicoke CI all sit inside or at the edge of Kingsway South, and the housing is what the name suggests: detached houses from the 1920s to the 1950s on 40- to 60-foot lots, with a small number of condos along Bloor and the Kingsway Condominiums and Montgomery buildings at the west end. TRREB’s W08 single-family detached benchmark was $1,638,600 in July 2026, and Kingsway South is the main reason it is that high. The Kingsway guide and the Bloor West buildings go deeper.
Edenbridge-Humber Valley (9)
Humber Valley Village JMS and Holy Angels are the elementary schools here; the secondary pathway from Humber Valley Village is now Richview. Post-war detached houses and split-levels on the streets off Royal York and Edenbridge, the Humber Valley golf course, and the towers along Scarlett Road and the ravine edge covered in the Dixon Road and Islington 2000 guide.
Islington (158)
Islington JMS and Our Lady of Peace serve the village core and the streets north of Dundas; Wedgewood JS the western edge. This is the neighbourhood where a house within a walk of Islington or Kipling subway is still possible, and where most of the condo supply near Kipling Station sits. Bishop Allen’s rebuild and Islington JMS’s completed renewal are both here.
Princess-Rosethorn (10)
Rosethorn, Princess Margaret, St George’s, John G Althouse and St. Gregory are the schools; Richview CI is the secondary for most of it. Larger post-war lots, the Thorncrest Village enclave, and almost no condos. The Early French Immersion site at Rosethorn and the gifted track at Althouse are the two programs families move here for, and both are placement-by-application, not by address alone. What homes in TRREB district W08 cost, July 2026
All four neighbourhoods report into TRREB’s W08. In July 2026 the district recorded 119 sales at an average price of $1,086,767 and a median of $825,000, with 466 active listings and 33 days on market on average. The MLS® HPI benchmarks were $1,638,600 for single-family detached (down 2.21% year over year), $1,188,600 for attached, $698,200 for townhouses (down 11.00%) and $520,400 for apartments (down 7.73%) (TRREB Market Watch, July 2026, released 6 August 2026).

If a French program or gifted placement is the point, note the application dates above and understand that the address sets eligibility, not the school. Then read the board’s page for that school, because this page will be out of date before the board’s is. I keep it current as the boards publish changes, and the date at the top tells you when it was last checked.

Which school will my Kingsway or Islington address be assigned to?
Only the school board’s address tool can answer that. For the TDSB, use Find Your School by address; for the TCDSB, use the elementary school locator or call Admissions and Placement at 416-397-6900. Attendance boundaries do not follow the City’s neighbourhood lines.
Is Etobicoke Collegiate still the high school for Humber Valley Village?
Not for new students. From 1 September 2026 the whole Humber Valley Village JMS attendance area is directed to Richview CI for the regular program, under a TDSB decision of 22 October 2025. Current students and their younger siblings are exempt. Etobicoke CI is closed to out-of-area admissions.
Where is Bishop Allen Academy in 2026–27?
