By Jatin Dua · Broker of Record, RE/MAX Quantum Realty · Updated 2 November 2026 · 9 min read — How to choose the right real estate agent in Streetsville, Mississauga for 2027, with real numbers, key questions and red flags.

Short answer

The best realtor in Streetsville for 2027 knows how to price and present older and heritage-area homes, proves recent local sales, and reaches buyers across the GTA. Mississauga detached medians fell 5.8% to $1,225,000 (Jan–Oct 2026), so ask for comparables matched to your home’s age and condition, and negotiate commission.

This guide is for Streetsville homeowners thinking about selling in 2027 and for buyers who want the village feel without leaving Mississauga. You will get verified market numbers, what makes Streetsville different, the questions to ask any agent, the red flags, and how commission and listing agreements work in Ontario.

What makes Streetsville unique in Mississauga?

Streetsville is older than Mississauga itself. Heritage Mississauga notes that the area was surveyed in 1819 with funding from Timothy Street, the man the village is named after. Mills along the Credit River drew early settlers, and by the 1830s Streetsville was the business and political centre of the surrounding township. It became a town in 1962 and joined the new City of Mississauga in 1974.

That long history still shows in the housing and the lifestyle:

  • A real main street. Queen Street, the old Mississauga Road, still runs through the village core with shops, churches and restaurants.
  • Historic buildings. The City of Mississauga says Streetsville has the largest collection of historic buildings in the city. Some homes are older houses near the core, and some properties may be on the City’s heritage register.
  • Early postwar suburbs. The Vista Heights and Riverview areas, built in the 1950s, are described as among Canada’s first suburbs.
  • Newer streets too. Around the village are homes from later decades, including townhouses and detached houses.
  • Community events. The Bread and Honey Festival, started in 1973 to honour the village’s milling history, is held on the first weekend of June at Streetsville Memorial Park.
  • A GO station. Streetsville GO Station, at 45 Thomas Street, is on the Milton line.

So “a house in Streetsville” can mean a century home near Queen Street, a 1950s bungalow, or a newer family home. Each one needs a different sales approach. For a local view, read my 10 things no one tells you about Streetsville.

What are Streetsville home prices doing heading into 2027?

There is no reliable public median for Streetsville alone, so I will not make one up. Here is the verified Mississauga-wide picture, which shows how each type of home has moved.

Mississauga property type Median sold price, Jan–Oct 2026 Same period 2025 Change Average days on market 2026 (2025)
Detached $1,225,000 $1,300,000 −5.8% 31 (28)
Semi-detached $885,000 $955,000 −7.3% 26 (22)
Freehold townhouse $880,000 $950,000 −7.4% 29 (23)
Condo townhouse $689,300 $750,000 −8.1% 37 (30)
Condo apartment $485,000 $535,000 −9.3% 42 (37)

Source: TRREB MLS data via REALM, January–October 2026 vs the same period of 2025, City of Mississauga as a whole. Streetsville is not reported separately; older and heritage homes can differ widely from these medians.

What this means for 2027:

  • Prices fell for every property type, from 5.8% for detached homes to 9.3% for condo apartments.
  • Homes took longer to sell. Semi-detached homes averaged 26 days on market in 2026, up from 18 days in the same period of 2024.
  • Detached sales rose 3.3%, so buyers are still out there, but they are negotiating.
  • The Bank of Canada raised its policy rate to 2.50% on 28 October 2026, and big-bank prime is 4.70%. Rate forecasts for 2027 differ, so treat them as forecasts.

Buyers should budget for Ontario land transfer tax, which reaches 2.0% on the portion of the price between $400,000 and $2,000,000. Eligible first-time buyers can get a refund of up to $4,000. Mississauga does not charge the separate Toronto municipal land transfer tax.

What should a Streetsville realtor know?

Older homes need more explaining

Buyers of older homes will ask about wiring, plumbing, foundations, insulation and any past renovations. A good agent helps you gather records, permits and receipts before you list, and suggests whether a pre-listing inspection makes sense. For buyers, the agent should insist on a proper inspection and know how to word the condition.

Heritage status

Some Streetsville properties may be designated or listed on the City of Mississauga’s heritage register. That can affect what an owner can change. A careful agent tells buyers to confirm a property’s heritage status with the City before firming up, and does not guess.

The village premium and its limits

Walkability to Queen Street, the river valley and the GO station can attract buyers. But a premium only holds if the home itself is in good shape and priced against real comparable sales. A strong agent separates the location value from the condition of the house.

Valley and river lots

Homes near the Credit River valley can come with extra rules. Buyers planning additions, pools or rebuilds should ask their agent to help them check with Credit Valley Conservation and the City before they commit.

Commuting, honestly

Streetsville GO is a real advantage, but ridership on the line has outgrown its capacity and shared freight traffic limits how many trains can be added. Buyers who plan to rely on it should check current schedules.

This model doesn’t know that your neighbour’s identical semi went $80,000 over asking last month, or which two upgrades actually pay back in your area. That conversation is free and takes twenty minutes.

How this works — your estimate is generated by a model built on recent Toronto & GTA sale data, weighting area, property type, size, age, condition, lot and features. It is an automated estimate for information only. It is not an appraisal, not a Comparative Market Analysis, and should not be relied on for financing, legal or tax purposes. Real pricing depends on comparable sales, interior finishes and market conditions on the day — ask me for a written CMA before you make a decision.

What questions should you ask a Streetsville realtor before hiring?

  1. How many homes have you sold, or helped buyers buy, in Streetsville in the last two years? Can I see them on MLS?
  2. Which recent sales are closest to my home in age, style and condition?
  3. How will you present an older home so buyers feel confident, and should I do a pre-listing inspection?
  4. How would you find out whether my property has any heritage status?
  5. Who is my likely buyer, and how will you reach them?
  6. Will you be my designated representative, or will the whole brokerage represent me?
  7. What is your fee, what is included, and how long is the holdover period?

Then check every agent on RECO’s public register. It confirms registration and shows enforcement activity, such as discipline decisions, from the past five years. For a real example of how a buyer strategy plays out locally, read my 5937 Rayshaw Crescent case study.

My take

With older Streetsville homes, information sells. Buyers pay more confidently when they can see the permits, the age of the roof and furnace, and receipts for past work. Spend a weekend gathering those papers before you list. It costs nothing and can remove a lot of doubt from an offer.

How do commission and listing agreements work in Ontario?

Commission is negotiable in Ontario. RECO says the fee is agreed between you and the brokerage and is not fixed or approved by RECO, the government or real estate boards. It can be a flat fee, a percentage of the sale price or both. It cannot be based on the difference between the list price and the sale price.

All representation agreements must be in writing. Review these points:

  • Expiry date, shown clearly on the first page. There is no standard length.
  • Holdover clause, which can make a fee payable after the agreement ends. There is no standard length, so agree on it first.
  • Services, written into the agreement or a schedule.
  • Representation type, brokerage or designated, which has been available since 1 December 2023.
  • Cancellation terms and any costs of ending early.

Buyers should know a seller may not cover their agent’s fee. My guides to commission in Ontario and buyer representation agreements explain the details.

Watch out

When one agent or brokerage represents both sides of a deal, or two competing buyers, that is multiple representation. It needs written disclosure and written consent from everyone, and you can refuse. If you agree, the agent cannot advise you on the price to offer or accept, which matters a lot on a unique older home where price is harder to judge.

What are the red flags when choosing a Streetsville agent?

  • Pricing an older home like a new one, using sales of very different houses as comparables.
  • Brushing off condition questions or discouraging a buyer’s home inspection.
  • Guessing about heritage status or zoning instead of checking with the City.
  • No written marketing plan or timeline.
  • Pressure to sign a long agreement with a long holdover period.
  • Not registered, or a recent discipline record on the RECO register.

Should you hire a Streetsville local or a GTA-wide agent?

The best choice has both. Local knowledge helps you price by street and house style, and explain the village’s character to buyers who have never walked Queen Street. GTA-wide experience matters because many buyers are coming from Toronto, Oakville, Brampton or elsewhere in Mississauga, and they are comparing Streetsville with older neighbourhoods in those places. An agent who knows those markets can explain why your home is worth it, in terms that buyer already understands.

Buyers gain from the same range. If you are choosing between Streetsville, Erin Mills, Meadowvale and other areas, an agent who works across the GTA can give you an honest comparison. My Mississauga home-buying FAQ is a good starting point.

What to do next

  1. Gather permits, receipts and the ages of major systems for your home.
  2. Check whether your property has heritage status with the City of Mississauga.
  3. Interview two or three agents with the same questions, and check each one on RECO’s public register.
  4. Ask each agent for a written pricing plan, marketing plan and timeline for 2027.
  5. Before signing, confirm the expiry date, holdover period, services, fee and representation type in writing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the best realtor in Streetsville?

Interview two or three agents and ask each for recent Streetsville sales on MLS, comparable homes matched to your home’s age and condition, and a written pricing and marketing plan. Then look each agent up on RECO’s public register. In 2027, choose the agent with the strongest evidence, not the one promising the highest price.

What is the average house price in Streetsville, Mississauga?

No reliable public median exists for Streetsville alone. For Mississauga as a whole, the median detached home sold for $1,225,000 and the median semi for $885,000 from January to October 2026, according to TRREB MLS data via REALM. Streetsville prices vary widely by age, style and condition, so ask for local comparables.

Is Streetsville a good place to buy a house in 2027?

It can be, especially for buyers who want a walkable village core, the Credit River valley and a GO station on the Milton line. Prices across Mississauga fell in 2026, which gives buyers more room to negotiate. Older Streetsville homes need careful inspection, so budget time and money for that in 2027.

How old is Streetsville?

Streetsville dates to 1819, when the area was surveyed with funding from Timothy Street, its namesake. It became a town in 1962 and joined the City of Mississauga in 1974. The City says Streetsville has the largest collection of historic buildings in Mississauga, which affects how many homes there are bought and sold.

What commission do realtors charge in Streetsville?

There is no fixed commission rate in Streetsville or anywhere in Ontario. RECO says the fee is agreed between you and the brokerage and can be a flat amount, a percentage or both. It cannot be based on the gap between list price and sale price. Compare what each agent includes for the fee in 2027.

Is there a GO train in Streetsville?

Yes. Streetsville GO Station at 45 Thomas Street is on GO Transit’s Milton line, between Meadowvale and Erindale stations. Ridership has outgrown the line’s capacity, and shared freight traffic limits added trains. Streetsville buyers should check current schedules before counting on it in 2027.

Do heritage rules affect selling a home in Streetsville?

They can. Some Streetsville properties may be designated or listed on the City of Mississauga’s heritage register, which can affect what owners may change. Sellers should know their property’s status before listing, and buyers should confirm it with the City before firming up an offer in 2027.

Can one realtor represent the buyer and seller in Streetsville?

Yes, but only with written disclosure and the written consent of every client, and you can refuse. Ontario calls this multiple representation. If you agree, the agent must be impartial and cannot advise you on the price to offer or accept, which is a real loss on a unique older Streetsville home.

Should I hire a Streetsville specialist or a GTA-wide realtor?

Ideally both. Local experience helps price Streetsville homes by street, age and style and explain the village’s appeal. GTA-wide experience helps reach buyers comparing Streetsville with older neighbourhoods in Toronto, Oakville or Brampton, and helps buyers compare those options honestly in 2027.
