Quick answer

The Cineplex site at 1025 The Queensway is the subject of an approved redevelopment. This page sets out what has been approved and what happens to the cinema.

“The Queensway Cineplex” is the single most-searched thing about this corridor — ahead of the restaurants, ahead of the condos, ahead of the road itself. People search it for showtimes, for VIP, for the address. Almost nobody searching it knows that the site it sits on is an approved redevelopment.

The practical bit first

The cinema is at 1025 The Queensway, mid-corridor between Kipling and Islington. For showtimes and VIP availability, go to the operator directly — those change weekly and I am not going to publish a number that is wrong by Friday.

The part that affects property

The site at 1025 The Queensway is the subject of an approved masterplan. This is not a rumour or an early application — it is on the City record, and I keep a separate page tracking exactly what has been approved.

Three consequences worth understanding if you own or are buying nearby:

  • The cinema is not permanent. Marketing that sells “walk to the movies” as a durable amenity is selling you something with a redevelopment approval attached to it. It may operate for years yet. It is not forever.
  • Construction is coming to the middle of the corridor. Buildings near 1025 — including The Tailor at 1195 and anything around 1000–1100 — should expect a large, multi-year build within sight. That is noise and disruption in the short term.
  • Long-term this is usually good for values. A large approved masterplan brings density, retail and eventually amenity. Over a ten-year hold that is generally a positive. Over a three-year hold it is mostly dust.

The honest summary

If you are choosing between a building next to the Cineplex site and one at the east end of the corridor near the restaurant cluster, this is a real variable and almost no listing will mention it. Ask the question. The answer is public.
