Renters, Airbnb and elevators at 590 Sandhurst Circle Townhouses
Do mostly owners or renters live here?
Too few deals in the last 24 months to read the owner and renter mix reliably. Ask me and I will pull the building’s history.
Can you Airbnb a unit at 590 Sandhurst Circle Townhouses?
No active City registrations here right now. In Toronto you can only host in your principal residence, a whole unit for at most 180 nights a year, with a $390 yearly registration and 6% accommodation tax. You cannot buy here to run it as a full-time Airbnb. Check the condo’s rules in the status certificate before you count on it.
How reliable are the elevators?
Ontario requires residential buildings to report any elevator outage lasting 48 hours or more, and this address has none on record. Elevators still need modernizing every 25 to 30 years, so check the reserve fund study for the date.

Before you buy here
Five things the listing will not tell you about 590 Sandhurst Circle Townhouses
- Reserve fund health. Ask for the latest reserve fund study and its date. A thin fund in an older building usually means fee jumps or a special assessment.
- Special assessments and big repairs. Check the status certificate for planned levies and for balcony, garage, window or elevator work.
- Insurance deductible. Find the corporation’s deductible for water damage. If it is higher than your own policy covers, raise your coverage before closing.
- Fee trend. Compare this year’s budget with last year’s. Rises of 2–5% a year are typical; bigger jumps need an explanation.
- Lawsuits and rules. Look for legal claims against the corporation, and for rules on pets, short-term rentals and leasing.
Send me the status certificate and I will flag anything that matters before your conditional period runs out.

590 Sandhurst Circle is the kind of complex most buyers drive past without noticing: 33 townhouses from 1979 on a curving street near McCowan and Finch. That low profile is part of the appeal. It is small, it is quiet, and it trades rarely, which means the right home here deserves a careful look when one comes up. I’m Jatin Dua, RE/MAX Quantum Realty.
Quick answer
590 Sandhurst Circle Townhouses is a 33-unit condominium townhouse complex at 550 to 590 Sandhurst Circle in the Agincourt North neighbourhood of Scarborough, Toronto, near McCowan Road and Finch Avenue East. Condos.ca lists it as built in 1979, and the condominium corporation, YCC-454, was registered on 30 January 1979. Newton-Trelawney Property Management is listed as the property manager. Condos.ca does not publish amenities or fee inclusions for this complex, so confirm those in the status certificate.
590 Sandhurst Circle Townhouses at a glance
Thirty-three homes on one stretch of Sandhurst
The complex covers a run of addresses from 550 to 590 Sandhurst Circle. Sandhurst Circle loops through this part of Agincourt North and is lined with several separate townhouse corporations, each with its own board, budget and rules, so check that the listing you are looking at is really YCC-454 and not a neighbour.
The corporation registered on 30 January 1979, which puts these homes at about 47 years old. That is four years younger than 1500 Sandhurst Circle, another small complex on the same street, and from the same wave of townhouse building that filled in north Scarborough in the 1970s.
With 33 homes, this is one of the smallest corporations in the area. That cuts both ways. Decisions can be quick and owners tend to know each other, but every capital repair is split among very few households.
A small, older corporation also tends to have a settled community. Many owners in complexes like this bought decades ago and stayed, which usually means people care about the grounds and show up to the annual meeting. Ask the seller how active the board is and how often meetings are held.
What you are actually buying
Condos.ca does not record suite sizes or amenities here, and its single-floor entry is a data convention rather than a description of the homes. Townhouses from this period in Scarborough were usually built as family homes over two levels, often with a basement, but measure the unit and ask for the floor plan rather than assuming.
Condition varies widely in a complex this age. Some owners will have redone kitchens, bathrooms and windows; others will be close to original. That spread is why I look at each home on its own merits and pay little attention to averages.
No parking arrangement is listed. Ask whether the home has a garage, a driveway or an assigned outdoor space, whether it is owned or exclusive-use, and how visitor parking works. In family complexes, parking is often the question that decides the sale.
Basements are the other thing to look at carefully. In a 1979 home, ask about any history of water, whether the foundation or drains have been repaired, and whether the corporation or the owner was responsible. Older declarations are not always clear on this, so get the answer in writing.

The McCowan and Finch corner is changing
Woodside Square, the mall at the northwest corner of Finch and McCowan, is the area’s main shopping stop, with Food Basics, Shoppers Drug Mart and the LCBO among its anchors. UrbanToronto reported in 2020 that owner WSIM Group proposed a phased redevelopment of about 2,589 homes in six towers and three mid-rise buildings while keeping the mall.
That plan steps its lower buildings down toward Sandhurst Circle. If it proceeds, expect a long construction period on the corner and, in return, more services within reach. For owners on Sandhurst, that is a trade-off worth thinking about before you buy, not after.
On transit, the City’s Line 2 East Extension will end at a new station at Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road. It is a drive or bus ride from here rather than a walk, and the data panel shows the routes that serve the complex today.
Day to day, the appeal is the convenience of the corner itself: groceries, a pharmacy and other errands are close, and Finch and McCowan connect you east, west and south by car. The data panel on this page has the nearby parks and schools.
The documents matter more than the listing
In a townhouse corporation, the fee usually pays for the exterior, roofs, roads, grounds, snow clearing and insurance, and owners pay for what is inside. The declaration draws the exact line. In older corporations, items such as windows, doors and fences are sometimes common elements and sometimes the owner’s cost.
Ask for the reserve fund study, the latest budget and audited statements, and recent board minutes. Newton-Trelawney Property Management is listed as manager, and the status certificate will confirm who manages it now and whether any special assessment or major project is under way.
Check your own unit’s furnace, air conditioner, water heater and electrical panel too. In a home this age, those are the costs that surprise new owners in their first winter.
How to price a home here
There were no homes for sale or lease when I checked, and condos.ca shows no average price per square foot for this complex. The data panel on this page shows the aggregate sales and lease history.
With only 33 homes, a few sales a year is normal, so pricing leans on the neighbouring townhouse corporations along Sandhurst Circle and nearby freehold towns. Adjust for size, condition, parking and the monthly fee, and remember that utilities here are usually on the owner.
Low turnover helps a well-prepared seller. A clean, updated home with good parking has little direct competition in the complex, so it should be priced against the best comparables nearby, not the weakest.
When you compare fees with nearby complexes, compare what the fees include as well as the dollar figure. A lower fee that leaves windows and doors to the owner can cost you more over ten years than a higher fee that covers them.

Jatin’s honest take on 590 Sandhurst Circle Townhouses
Who this building suits
Families moving up from a condo apartment who want a home with its own front door near McCowan and Finch, and buyers who like small, quiet complexes. It also suits owners who plan to stay long enough to benefit from the changes coming to the Woodside Square corner.
What I’d want you to check
Read the reserve fund study for roofs, windows, exterior walls, paving and drainage, and ask whether a major program is planned. Confirm the parking arrangement, the boundary between owner and corporation responsibilities in the declaration, and the age of the mechanical equipment in your unit. Make sure the listing is actually in YCC-454.
The value question
A ground-oriented home in Agincourt North at a price below a freehold semi is the core value case. In a complex this small, value rests on the health of the reserve fund and the condition of the specific home. If you want a second opinion on one, book a call.
